The June Edition of the RIBA Journal presented the winners of this prestigious competition. The UK is divided into 13 Regions including Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. The East Midlands were bottom with 2 winning entries, one in Derby the other in Nottingham. Next were the North West, Wales and the North East each with 4 winners. - [Volunteers needed](https://nbpt.co.uk/volunteers-needed/): The first opportunity in a long time for hands-on help, much-needed at the Walks of Life Museum in Tuxford. Details are included on the attached flyer for days in June and July thanks to the trustees of the Museum and Jason Mordan at Nottinghamshire County Council.  It will be interesting to explore the timber-frame when more is exposed after some very hard render is removed. Plans are in hand to refurbish the house, and include demolition of the modern porch, reinstatement/repair of traditional windows, complete new electrical and heating installations and moving the existing ground floor bathroom upstairs on the first floor. Can you help?
- [Alexandra Lodges, Bestwood Country Park](https://nbpt.co.uk/alexandra-lodges-bestwood-country-park/): The NBPT are currently commissioned to carry out a Feasibility and Options Appraisal for the future use of the building designed by SS Teulon in the 1870’s. The buildings and park are in the ownership of Nottinghamshire County Council who look after them in conjunction with Gedling Borough Council. The NBPT first reported on the lodges, named after a visit by Princess Alexandra, in the 1980’s when the County Council carried out extensive repair works following a period of neglect and vandalism. The report can be read in the Conservation in Notts Newsletter of Spring 1984.
- [Nottingham Archives Visit](https://nbpt.co.uk/nottingham-archives-visit/): A group visit to the Nottingham Archives has been arranged for WEDNESDAY 14th SEPTEMBER, starting at 10.00am and lasting about 1.5hours. - [50th Anniversary Year 2017](https://nbpt.co.uk/50th-anniversary-year-2017/): 50th ANNIVERSARY YEAR 2017 The NBPT was formed in February 1967 and is celebrating 50 years since its inception in 2017 with a series of events. A Celebratory Lunch is planned for June and a Second Traditional Crafts Day booked for Saturday 16th September at Southwell Minster. It is 5 years since the First Traditional Craft Day was held in the Minster. Invitations to exhibit are being prepared and it is hoped to expand on the fifty plus traditional craftspeople that joined us in May 2012.

- [Dovecote Fund](https://nbpt.co.uk/dovecote-fund/): The Dovecote Fund The Dovecote Fund was established in memory of Dr. Norman Summers, and commemorates his keen interest in the dovecote, a one-time common building form in Nottinghamshire. The Trust was involved in the repair of dovecotes from the early 80’s. The first project was to repair the Dovecote at Bulwell, which was carried out in 1982. Cromwell Dovecote was the next, followed by Barton-in-Fabis.
